"Charity is commendable, everyone should be charitable. But Justice aims to create a social order in which, if individuals choose not to be charitable, people still don't go hungry, unschooled or sick without care. Charity depends on the vicissitudes of whim and personal wealth, justice depends on commitment instead of circumstance.
Faith-based charity provides crumbs from the table; faith-based justice offers a place at the table"

Institutionalized Terrorism and domestic espionage

(Nexus of politics and terror - "Protect the Americans Act")

Before I emigrated to the US in Jan. 1969 and since then, I kept hearing that the guiding principle of the United States of America was that it is better to let 9 guilty people go free before unjustly condemning an innocent one.

Even before I came here, I knew that it was pure BS because justice is not blind hence it is not dispensed equally, that your ethnic, economic, ideology or national background/origin play a big role as to who gets convicted and what sentence is given; but as a guiding principle I thought it was a good one to strive for.

In the ensuing 39 years, my views and opinions were reinforced continuously.

"The land of the Free and the Home of the Brave"

"Give me liberty or give me death" These words ring so hollow after witnessing the aftermath of 911, people were terrified to go out, to fly, afraid of their own shadow to the point of letting a corrupt government take away their, albeit not for all, precious liberties, by enacting legislation that would allow Government institutions to break the law while violating the Constitution.

I must clarify that not all Americans allowed themselves to be stampeded into capitulation, a good one third refused to go down quietly and have fought valiantly ever since to preserve their way of going about living, and it has come to pass that the numbers have been reversed to the point of leaving approximately only one third of the population still cowing at a fabricated boogey man crouching in every imaginable nook and crannies, I'll venture to say that there is no hope for these people, commonly referred as RightWingNuts who behave no different than sheep or the bobble heads people place on the dashboards of their cars, yep, yep, yep...

It was incomprehensible to me how people were railroaded into submission by the use of fear, especially in this country allegedly populated by brave Patriots, where the phrase, uttered by a president considered to have been great, "You have nothing to fear but fear itself" Is considered a shinning path to bravery and victory.

Alas, that was not the case this time or in any of the many other cases in the past.

For many of us, 911 was a case study on how people can be manipulated into accepting the normally unacceptable such a cruelty and injustice toward other human beings and more paradoxically yet, to themselves.

For the first time in my life, I was seeing and living the lessons of history which were until this point, at an intellectual level, I witnessed the development of a terror campaign such as the ones which made possible, the Native Americans Relocation, the Chinese Exclusionary Act, nazism, The Japanese internments, Operation Wetback, The Mexican Repatriation Program, The Zoot Riots, Braceros, McCarthyism, Operation Return to Sender, Operation Endgame, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and many others against African Americans and Pacifists in the 60s and 70s. - The list is so extensive.

And now, many American sheeple are doing it to themselves, again, with many programs of which I'll mention just one for now, The Patriot Act.

It is both sad and terrifying to see how many people are in support of letting the Government spy on them, how they still believe what their elected(?) (A puzzle here too) Officials tell them when it is in the record the countless times said Government has lied to them to date.

A current campaign of fear is the "Protect America Act", where The President and Republicans want a) to continue spying on the American People and, b) Give Retroactive and Prospective immunity to Giant Telecommunication Corporations who engaged on illegal domestic espionage and who will do the same in the future.

One of many Patriotic citizens, Keith Olbermann, who has been challenging the illegal, unconstitutional, corrupt, et al, actions of the current administration, had his staff put together an outstanding piece of chronological video reporting on this issue.

I'll let him tell it and you can see it in the video below.
