Good afternoon friends...
Here's a call for solidarity...
June 20, 2009 is the World Refugee Day...also known as the International Refugee Day. It falls on a Saturday.
Two years ago we collaborated with Amnesty International and dozens of other organizations held the largest protest against the imprisonment of children at the T. Don Hutto detention facility.
Children are still imprisoned there. Other such "family" prisons are in the planning stages by the Department of Homeland Security. This immoral and un-American practice must stop.
Would you personally be willing to participate with us again in a planned vigil, on June 20th, the World Refugee Day, in solidarity with the innocent children and their mothers who are imprisoned in Hutto...to encourage the new President and new Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security to put an end to the Bush-Cheney-Chertoff practices?
President Obama has called for an end to tyranny of Guantanamo and torture. How about if we encourage him to bring an end to the immoral incarceration of children, asylum seekers and desperate refugees...which is being done, not for national security but "for profit"?
If you and are willing to join us or simply endorse this event from wherever you are, please e-mail Sarah Boone at sboone@stx.rr.com or call (830)768-1100.
Calling for solidarity...to free innocent children...

"Charity is commendable, everyone should be charitable. But Justice aims to create a social order in which, if individuals choose not to be charitable, people still don't go hungry, unschooled or sick without care. Charity depends on the vicissitudes of whim and personal wealth, justice depends on commitment instead of circumstance.
Faith-based charity provides crumbs from the table; faith-based justice offers a place at the table" ~Bill Moyers
