ANOTHER CAMPAIGN TO SUPPRESS LATINO VOTE: Arpaio just sent this shocking message to his followers:

Last week we were shocked and angered at the viciously un-American Ad aimed at Latinos/Hispanics asking us NOT TO VOTE.

The now extreme Republican Party, with it's army of right Wing Extremists, are fully engaged in a-not-much-discussed campaign to suppress, by any means necessary, the Latino/Hispanic Vote in the upcoming election.

Earlier today, I received and email from AmericanVoiceOnline.org, alerting us to an email sent by AZ's Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio addressed to all of his followers, creating and disseminating an image of a 'fraud bogeyman' and inciting to organize against Latino/Hispanic Voters, by once again, targeting this much maligned and abused Community, as the villains in this elections, hence creating a climate of mistrust, antagonism and anger for Brown people, thus making it justifiable and acceptable for his "Army", to harass and intimidate them around the voting polls.

This is the text of his message

"STOP ILLEGALS FROM STEALING THE ELECTION! Our grassroots army of VOTER FRAUD PREVENTION VOLUNTEERS will stand vigilant across the nation. We will be the first and strongest line of defense to ensure that only legal citizens vote on November 2nd."

From American Voice Online. Bogus accusations of "illegal voters" crop up every election, and every election they are proven false. What's truly frightening is that, this year, Arpaio is recruiting an "army" to block people from voting in the name of "fraud prevention."

As would be expected, Fox News is again at the Vanguard on yet another dirty campaign to suppress the vote a minority by having as guests Right Wing Operatives to push this campaign, one of them is Ultra Right Wing Blogger, Michelle Malkin, whose participation in this propaganda channel can be seen in this video, where she declares "'We Are All Voter Fraud Police Now'":

Least be left unsaid, The Latino/Hispanic voters need to be prepared for the MOST LIKELY EVENTUALITY that their
eligibility will be challenged, we need to be civil but strong on the conviction that we have the right to vote, if there is harassment or intimidation, it needs to be reported to the Election Officials present.

Health Care Mobs = Swift Boat Vets... And the Press Plays Dumb, Again

Mini-mob members being treated as deeply important newsmakers is reminiscent of August 2004.

Here we go again.

During August's summer daze, right-wing mini-mobs (egged on by corporate interests) have run wild at town hall meetings, propagating all kinds of smears and misinformation in an effort to derail an important Democratic campaign. Yet the mini-mob members have been treated as deeply important newsmakers by the press during a slow summer news month.

Sound familiar? Recall August 2004, when the right-wing Swift Boat Veterans for Truth (egged on by corporate interests) stole a month's worth of campaign headlines by propagating all kinds of smears and misinformation in an attempt to derail an important Democratic campaign. Yet they were treated as deeply important newsmakers by the press during a slow summer news month.

Honestly, the only thing missing this time around is a crackpot, best-selling book. In 2004, the Swifties used the release of Unfit for Command to launch their media-based smear campaign. This summer, it could have been something like ObamaScare: How Liberal Health Care Will Destroy America. (The Swifties' right-wing publisher must be kicking itself over the missed marketing opportunity.)

But what has been perfectly consistent is the way the press has, again, fallen for a right-wing smear campaign and dressed it up as news. Just as with the Swifties, the press has turned over its summer coverage to a band of agitators spreading misinformation. Five summers ago, the Swift Boat Vets helped hijack the election. They lied about documents, they lied about eyewitness, and they lied about their partisan affiliations and connections. For several crucial weeks during the campaign, journalists turned away from the pile-up of Swift Boat falsehoods and contradictions, rarely daring to call the Swift Boat attack out for what it really was -- a hoax. Too spooked by the GOP Noise Machine and its charge of liberal media bias, the press propped up the Vets as serious men and showered them with attention.

This year, the press has handed over untold hours of free airtime to mini-mob members whose sole purpose seems to be to spread as much fear as possible. (The ones who show up toting guns and Nazi posters make that point rather emphatically.)

Fringe players on the right are making wild accusations that cannot be backed up by fact. The mainstream media response? We must cover the phenomenon daily, even hourly!

So, day after August day, these vacuous health care "debates" are aired on cable television, just as news consumers suffered through night after night of vacuous Swift Boat "debates" five summers ago. In both cases, the press for the most part handed in its referee's whistle and focused its attention on simply reporting the fact-free claims and then getting the Democratic response. (i.e. he said/she said.) It turns out journalists are petrified of calling out right-wing activists as liars, and the other side knows it.

What's amazing is that even a conservative Republican congressman has conceded that the mini-mobs (this summer's news superstars) appear to be completely detached from reality. "You cannot build a movement on something that is not credible,'' Rep. Bob Inglis of South Carolina told the Los Angeles Times after being confronted by belligerent, fact-free protesters who were convinced that as part of health care reform, children would soon be forced to receive swine flu vaccinations. "At town meetings, the hostility went straight through to hysteria,'' said Inglis.

Following Free Republic, Drudge's lead, media run with Obama photo that doesn't show what they claim

He later updated his post with video of the exchange from ABC's Good Venezia also added video from Good Morning America to his post.

After a Free Republic member posted a Reuters photo described as "U.S. President Barack Obama (C) and France's President Nicolas Sarkozy (R) tak[ing] their places with junior G8 delegates for a family photo at the G8 summit in L'Aquila, Italy," Matt Drudge promoted the same photo.
Subsequently, ABC News' Jake Tapper, Fox News, and the New York Post followed their lead, highlighting the photo online and on screen, in some cases with provocative, needling, or scolding commentary. But a review of the video, which the media promoting the photo either did not watch or did not allow to give pause, makes clear that Obama was attempting to navigate high steps, while reaching back to help someone behind him do so as well. As Fox News host Greta Van Susteren said after airing video of the event, "Yes, a
still picture can lie. And this one does."

As Media Matters for america has documented, media figures previously attacked Obama based on an interpretation of a photograph that was similarly disproved by video evidence.

The Reuters photo posted on Free Republic by TornadoAlley3 at 2:45 p.m. ET:*

At 3:14 p.m. ET, the Drudge Report posted the photo with the headline, "Mr. President!" Drudge later revised the headline to "Second Stimulus Package!" The Drudge Report subsequently included a link to Tapper's blog post under the headline, "ABCNEWS: NO HE DIDN'T ..."

Media figures making dubious claims about the photo following its posting on Free Republic and the Drudge Report include:

• The Fox Nation picked up the photo with the headline, "Another Stimulus?" which was later revised to "Busted?"

The Fox Nation subsequently posted the following photo with the headline, "Girl
Obama Was Checking Out Is 17?":

• At 5:20 p.m. ET, Tapper posted the photo with the headline, "When In Rome...?" Around 4 a.m. ET on July 10, Tapper posted on Twitter, "that foto of POTUS seeming to be sneaking a leer is misleading, im told -- video shows the moment was completely innocent." He also updated his blog post, including video of the incident:
  

On first glance, the snapshot appears to show President Obama caught in a
moment of less than lofty analysis. But upon looking at the video, the moment might seem to appear quite innocent -- one of those times when a picture can be misleading. The president was on a higher step and was stepping down -- so he looked down to assure his footing as the woman was walking up the stairs.

Although: not everyone agrees. Judge for yourself.

He later updated his post with video of the exchange from ABC's Good
Morning America.

• On the July 9 edition of his Fox News show, Sean Hannity stated, "[S]o
  there I am. I'm on the radio today, and I click on to the Drudge Report. And I
  say, 'Oh, Barack Obama in his Bill Clinton moment,' " before showing the
  photograph on air. After Fox News political analyst Kirsten Powers stated,
  "They're looking at something else, like out of -- it's the camera angle. ...
  [I]t's not in the picture," Hannity replied, "He's looking at her backside,
  can we just say it?"

• In a July 10 New York Post article published online at 3:28 a.m. ET and linked to by Drudge
  by 6:10 a.m. ET, Todd Venezia posted the photo and wrote:

Baby got Barack!

The leader of the free world and his French counterpart were caught sneaking a peek at a the pink-satin-draped booty of a 17-year-old junior G-8 delegate just moments before the summit's official group photo was snapped in Italy yesterday.

Obama wasn't the only head of state getting Yankee Doodle randy.

Venezia also added video from Good Morning America to his post.

• The following day, Fox & Friends aired the photo with the caption, "Tail to the chief." Co-hosts Brian Kilmeade and Gretchen Carlson, along with guest co-host Andrew Napolitano, asserted that the photo was evidence that Obama "sneak[ed] a "peek" at "a beauty's backside." Carlson stated of the photo, "That's just a natural reaction, is it not, guys?' Napolitano responded, "It surely is. That's why there's so many pictures of it."

Fox & Friends subsequently aired another photograph from the G-8 summit with the caption, "Yes, nice can":

As video of that incident makes clear, the claim that Obama is "check[ing] out the ladies" from this photo is also baseless.

El Martes 23 de Junio, 2009, vi el programa "Aquí y Ahora" Con Maria Elena Salinas En Univisión, un reportaje titulado "Odio a Muerte", se trata sobre el asesinato del Mexicano Luís Ramírez en Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, el 12 de Julio del 2008, las reacciones e impresiones de los testigos, lo que la Mama de Luís esta pasando y dice, otros aspectos de esta historia.

Al Final del reportaje, hay un segmento en la cual se hace una dramatización de un brutal ataque racial en pleno día y con testigos casuales en esta dramatización, la idea, según Maria Elena la explica, es ver si alguien de los testigos intervendrían para ayudar a la víctima, los resultados fueron muy interesantes y tristes a la vez, aunque algunos de los testigos devuelven mi fe de que algunos de nosotros estamos decididos a ayudar a un semejante en sufrimiento, otros no, no puedo culpar ni exculpar totalmente a los que no intervinieron, porque las razones de algunos hacen eco a los argumentos que muchos de nosotros hemos utilizado en oposición a legislación que permite que los Alguaciles y Policía Metropolitana funcionen como agentes de ICE (387g), una de las personas entrevistadas, Víctor, que era amigo de Luís, hace unos puntos de mucho impacto a través del reportaje, en mi opinión, esta totalmente en lo correcto.

"¿Denunciarías un ataque racial?" NOTA: Al parecer este video fue retirado

El reporte de Maria Elena fue excelente, y repitiéndolo, impactante, la felicito y doy fe en mi reconocimiento de su esfuerzo... Aunque...

... En mi opinión, aunque muy bien hecho, esta incompleto.

Como ya mencione, en el segmento final donde dramatizan un ataque racial, en lo que parecen reflexiones de Maria Elena sobre lo que nos presento, hace una pregunta: "¿Denunciarías un ataque racial?", aplaudo la pregunta por certera aunque esto me lleva a hacer dos preguntas pertinentes,
1.¿que es lo que estas dispuesto@ a hacer, o mas bien, que es lo que estas haciendo para poner un alto, contrarrestarlos o por lo menos aminorarlos?
2. ¿Que es lo que causa que todo este prejuicio y odio se propague en forma tan uniforme y extensa?
Me parece haber oído que este reportaje es parte de una serie, ojala, porque falta llegar al meollo del asunto, ¿que es lo que hace que todo este odio racial se este expandiendo a lo largo y lo ancho de este país?

En un estudio reciente del UCLA, se vislumbra una correlación muy directa y fuerte entre lo que llamamos "La retórica de Odio" En los medios de comunicación y la National Hispanic Media Coalition presento a la Comisión Federal de Comunicaciones una "Petition of Inquire on Hate Speech in the Media" (Summary - Full Petition)

Esto es muy importante, porque va al génesis de la expansión y virulencia del sentimiento anti-inmigrante, Hispano/Latino inmigrantes para ser mas específicos y particularmente contra los Mexicanos.

Si, ojala sea parte de una serie, porque si no se hace la pregunta que hago y que nada mas hago eco a las voces de muchas personas que preguntan lo mismo, el reporte de Maria Elena seria equivalente a un reporte sobre narcotráfico y que se limite a presentar lo que pasa en ventas de drogas en las esquinas de nuestras ciudades, pasando por alto los grandes narcotraficantes que operan al por mayor y a nivel internacional.

Aunque encontré la pagina del video titulado "¿Denunciarías un ataque racial?" y lo que parece ser el video, no se encuentra ahí, no esta ahí "¿¿¿ ???" - este es el video en el que presenta la dramatización de un ataque racial, estando a la expectativa y con cámaras ocultas para obervar las reacciones de los testigos casuales, es al final de este segmento donde Maria Elena hace las reflexiones y la pregunta.
Al parecer fue removido o ¿¿¿ ???.

En el programa que siguió a "Aquí y Ahora", "Ultima Hora", se le hace una entrevista al Sr. Raul Izaguirre ex-presidente de NCLR

El tema era sobre que es lo que causa todo este odio, Don Raul hizo muy buenos puntos "Esto no es nada nuevo" dijo y muestra un libro sobre La Revolución en Tejas, o Los levantamientos en Texas y prácticamente no tuvo tiempo a elaborar un poco sobre el libro, hablo un poco en respuesta a una pregunta ¿de como se hace este odio contra nuestro grupo étnico? Se comienza a antagonizar a los Estadounidenses blancos contra nuestra etnia, pintándonos en forma negativa hasta el punto de deshumanizarnos, a llamarnos criminales y también comenzó a explicar de que había una red en la que se disemina esto, y fue interrumpido, no se le permitió terminar lo que estaba tratando de decir, que en mi opinión es "de que manera se difunde este odio a través de los medios de comunicación, lo que llamamos 'discurso de odio', 'retórica de odio'" (Hate Speech)

Busque el video de esta entrevista y tampoco se encuentra en su sitio, o por lo menos no lo he encontrado aun.

Hay muchas preguntas sin respuesta todavía, entre ellas esta ¿Porque no se saco a relucir la aparente correlación entre los crímenes de odio y la retórica de odio en los medios de comunicación en este reporte y en la entrevista que siguió?, tal vez sea mucho esperar, o pedir, de nuestros medios que nos informen aun yendo a contra de la industria en la que trabajan y expongan lo que están haciendo algunos de sus colegas muy mal informados o mal intencionados.

Y para enfatizar la desesperada necesidad de informar al publico en su totalidad, la pude ver al comenzar a indagar sobre el reporte inmediatamente al terminar este, entre a un foro de discusión en las paginas de Univisión, es cierto, hay indignación ante este crimen tan horrendo cometido contra Luís Ramírez y al ver que parece que hay una licencia que ampara a los malhechores, no solo de este crimen, sino trágicamente de los muchos otros que se han estado cometiendo.
En general los medios (En Ingles principalmente) y el publico exculpa o minimiza el crimen cometido, como si paso al vacío, el resultado de una persona con problemas psicológicos o algo por el estilo, y en ningún momento conectan, por lo menos preguntando, acerca del papel que juegan los Shock Jocks en la radio que vomitan odio e intolerancia todo los días de la semana, de cada semana, de cada ano, contra nuestras comunidades.

Abajo se encuentran algunos de los comentarios, lo mas notable para mi es que para nada se menciona la "Retórica de Odio" y el papel que juega en los "Crímenes de Odio Raciales"

Para mi, el incitar al odio, a la intolerancia, es un "Crimen de Odio" y con todo respeto hago esta ultima pregunta, esta dirigida a Maria Elena y a Univisión, ¿denunciaras un crimen de odio?, en caso de que no estén de acuerdo conmigo de que es un crimen de odio, por lo menos puedo preguntar ¿no creen que seria bueno que se entablara una conversación en el publico sobre el tema?, idealmente acompañado de una investigación oficial de parte de la FCC sobre la retórica de odio en los medios, como lo que la National Hispanic Media Coalition esta

En el Video titulado "En aumento los crímenes de odio", solamente el Sr.. Daniel Herrera, (MALDEF: Coalition Reports) saco a relucir la retórica de odio "hace unos dos anos que los medios de comunicación dejaron que activistas anti-inmigrantes tomaran su odio de hispanos inmigrantes al publico Americano"

La reportera comento como causa "la crisis económica y el lenguage de organizaciones" pero no del papel que juegan los medios, aun después de haber sido introducido en la entrevista por Daniel Herrera.
